DRIVING SCHOOL & PROVISIONAL LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

*it is highly recommended that you read the following list BEFORE registering for Driver's Education.

1. Students are eligible to attend the CLASSROOM portion of driver's education at 15 years old WITHOUT a learner's permit

2. The MINIMUM age to obtain your learner's permit is 15 years and 9 months--the student must hold the permit for AT LEAST 9 months, but the permit expires after 2 years and is renewable. 

3. ALL students under 25 must have 60 hours of logged practice hours with an eligible supervising driver (supervising drivers must be at least 21 and have had a license for at least 3 years)

4. Driver's Education consists of 30 CLASSROOM hours and 6 BEHIND THE WHEEL hours. The driver's education course fee at Green Light Driving Academy includes BOTH classroom and behind the wheel. Green Light Driving Academy hosts classes IN-PERSON

5. OUR classes are held MONDAY-FRIDAY (in the event of a weekday holiday closure, the final exam is given on Saturday morning--see the Course Schedule). Classes are 3 hours. 

6. Day 1/Unit 1 of the classroom is REQUIRED and cannot be made up. It is also HIGHLY recommended that a parent attends. 

7. Other missed sessions must be made up before the student can take the final exam. The final exam is 50 questions and requires a passing score of 80% or better.

8. Behind the Wheel lessons are designed to EVALUATE the student's driving based on the practice hours they are receiving with their supervising driving coach. Use the Rookie Log book to assist with the skills necessary.

9.Behind the Wheel follows an MVA approved curriculum just like the classroom, but every driving school has slightly different rules for booking behind the wheel. 

10. When students have completed the classroom AND behind the wheel, the driving school will upload their passing scores directly to the MVA within 24 hours. Students do not need to bring anything.
